About EkoFilm Platform
We founded EkoFilm Platform with a simple yet powerful belief: film and media hold the power to transform the way we see the world. What began as a small initiative led by Ekin Gündüz Özdemirci, in collaboration with Nurten Bayraktar, has grown into a vibrant movement supported by professionals from the film industry, academia, and civil society.
Our journey began within the British Council’s Going Global Partnerships program. Building on that foundation, we now continue as an independent, non-profit organisation dedicated to developing environmentally friendly solutions at every stage of filmmaking — from production processes to storytelling itself.
We work to make sustainability an integral part of the creative process. Through research, training, and consultancy, we focus on areas such as carbon footprint assessment, energy efficiency, waste management, and sustainable content development.
At EkoFilm Platform, we also create a space where the film industry, academia, public institutions, and civil society come together. Our workshops, training programs, and creative projects connect professionals from diverse fields, fostering environmental awareness, collaboration, and a culture of sustainable production.
We are committed to carrying the vision of a sustainable future into education, film sets, and screenwriting. By building local and international partnerships, we aim to accelerate the industry’s transition toward environmentally responsible filmmaking — one story, one production, and one step at a time.
Sustainable Production Guideline and Sustainable Content Development Guideline are now available online in Turkish.
The carbon footprint calculator is designed to provide an overview of a production’s environmental impact. It supports the crew in implementing the recommendations from the sustainable production guide and developing a strategy to adopt sustainable practices.
The platform analyzes sustainable practices in Türkiye to enhance their visibility, inspiring other productions to adopt similar initiatives.
